Public past motivates design for the future
Not very often a small business emerges that you instinctively know is
going to make a huge difference. Designstone is one such business in
Canberra where it is already changing the face of public education.
Paul Slinger and his staff have a passion for celebrating public
education and the work of the profession, and have redesigned the
public ‘look’ of a number of schools. The new designs are about the
attributes of each school as well as highlighting the strong
relationship between the schools and their communities. They have
started a positive buzz about the ACT’s public schools that has not
been heard for a long time in the suburbs.
Paul has a young family and doesn’t want to be coerced away from the
public school system which has so positively influenced his life. He is
intent on closing the gap between the quality of communication material
produced by public and private education and believes that public
education is more than capable of preparing our young people to become
effective in Australia’s innovative and vibrant society. Paul says it
is all about influencing positive attitudes towards public education
and the results of his work are already showing that that is exactly
what Designstone is doing.
Founded by Paul Slinger in 2007 Designstone combines versatile design
skills with business know-how to untap amazing potential for their
clients. The business has already been applauded for its excellence in
the production of digitally printed material by winning a PAGE award in
2008. This is a communications company with drive and enthusiasm
coupled with honesty and integrity – a combination that makes it stand
out amongst its peers. Keep an eye on Designstone; it’s bound not to
disappoint.
